Bryan Cranston, Breaking Bad and Malcolm in the Middle actor, Builds a Passive House in CA

Posted On: Posted In: News

We recently learned that Bryan Cranston, star of one of our favorite television shows, “Breaking Bad” (thank you netflix), and his wife Robin Dearden,  have built a new home which is targeted for LEED (leadership in energy and environmental design) Platinum certification and passive house alliance us recognition. The 3 bedroom, 3 1/2 bathroom home will feature the usual LEED point-earning features including radiant heating, rainwater recycling, rooftop photo voltaics, solar water heating, low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints and finishes, Energy Star appliances, LED lighting, and the use of recycled/renewable materials and FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) lumber throughout. Given its passive house ambitions, the tightly sealed, super-insulated home will take full advantage of passive solar design and include SIP (structural insulated panels) construction, high-performance doors and windows, and HRV (heat/energy recovery ventilator). Bryan’s role choices are equally impressive. From “Malcom in the Middle”, ” Breaking Bad” and “Seinfeld” on TV to “Saving Private Ryan”, “Little Miss Sunshine”, “Total Recall”, “Drive” and” Argo” in films; his roles seem as independent and intelligent as his choice to build  this passive home.

Please watch this youtube video about his passivhaus, it is very informative.!
